Home of many great events in Sevierville is the Sevier County Fairgrounds. On these beloved fairgrounds, locals and visitors alike can enjoy a day of fun as they enjoy various events throughout the year. As a valued part of Sevier County, this fairground has played a significant role in the community for decades. Sevier County is the county seat of Sevierville and was established in 1795, making it the eighth-oldest city in the state of Tennessee.
With both indoor and outdoor spaces available, the Sevier County Fairgrounds host an array of interesting events that inspire community participation and bring in visitors from throughout the nation. The next upcoming event expected to take place at the fairgrounds is the beloved Sevier County Fair Community Sale. This community gathering, which will take place rain or shine, will feature crafts, antiques, yard sale items, collectibles, and direct sales. Taking place on October 18th and 19th, the event will feature food trucks and free admission and parking.
Locals and visitors alike can spend the entire day enjoying their time roaming the fairgrounds and exploring all sorts of vendors and unique hand-crafted items. For decades, the people of the Sevierville area have valued intricate handmade items and honed their skills in crafting their unique offerings. This type of event allows the locals of Sevierville to shine and show off all the many crafts they have mastered. Of course, it also is a pretty fun yard sale on steroids, allowing those who love the thrill of getting a good deal to enjoy a weekend of thrills chasing the best deals around.
As one of the most beloved events that brings in visitors nationwide, the Sevier County Fair once again took place on the beloved fairgrounds within the past few months. The 2024 fair ran from August 27th through September 2nd, and the family-friendly fair included entertainment, a livestock contest, exhibits, carnival rides, cosplay, a dog fashion show, a fun talent show, and, of course, scrumptious food vendors, and live music. This yearly event is one of the most popular that takes place on the fairgrounds.
In addition to the traditional exhibits you would expect to find at any agricultural fair, the Sevier County Fair at the Sevier County Fairgrounds included interesting additional exhibits like the Plein Air at the Fair. This was a type of painting style that was popularized in the mid-19th century in France and focused on outdoor painting. To honor this tradition, this fair allowed fair guests to pick a spot and paint the outdoors themselves as their Plein Air at the Fair event.
Other fun events that took place included the Skillet Toss Contest sponsored by Lodge Cast Iron, Senior Bingo and even a Taylor Swift Party, and Trivia contest. All Swifties were encouraged to participate in the Taylor Swift Trivia contest as well as take place in the Taylor Swift Lip Sync Contest. There was even a Best Dressed Tailor Fan contest. Participants enjoyed Swiftie-themed giveaways and a dance party.
While there are no other additional events scheduled on the fairgrounds after the already mentioned community sale, there is every reason in the world for visitors to keep checking back. At any time, the fairgrounds can be utilized to host any number of fun events like tractor and truck pulls, such as events hosted by TNT Motorsports, craft fairs, rodeos, cornhole tournaments, master gardener fairs, and even walking horse shows.
