Seven Islands State Birding Park, located near the small towns of Kodak and Sevierville is a must-see. We took a kayak adventure on one of the oldest rivers in the world and highly recommend this relaxing and surreal journey. More than eight miles of trails offer something for everyone. You’ll appreciate the well-maintained and easy-to-navigate trails. They are perfect for families with children, casual hikers, and serious adventurers. We took the leisurely walking paths but witnessed many seasoned hikers who enjoyed the more challenging options. Our favorite was the Upland Trail leading to a high point overlooking the French Broad River. You don’t want to miss the stunning views in the morning or late afternoon when the light bathes the scene with warm, golden hues. It’s a major photo opportunity!

Kayaking and River Access

If you are looking for a picturesque water adventure, Seven Islands Park provides access to the French Broad River, one of the oldest rivers in the world. Whether you kayak or canoe, designated launch areas are easy to access and posted so you can canoe or paddle along the gentle currents. The sun beautifully shines on the water as you wind through landscapes, view wildlife at the water’s edge, and explore the area. We spotted otters and turtles from our kayak. It was a sight to see!
