Holston’s Kitchen, located in Sevierville, is a local favorite. With the low lighting, brick walls, and rustic finishes all throughout, you’ll feel as if you’re in a bistro in the city. Don’t let the classy feel of this restaurant scare you from bringing your little ones; Holston’s also offers a kid’s menu.
Upon our entrance, we were immediately impressed with the attention to detail, cleanliness, and overall upscale vibe they successfully nailed. Did we forget to mention that they have outdoor fire pits in colder months to keep you warm while you’re waiting? Super classy.
Much to our delight, Holston’s offered an array of menu items ranging from salads to steaks; everyone in the family should be able to find something they like to eat here. During our visit we learned that every Monday, in addition to the normal menu, Holston’s has a Mexican Menu with enchiladas, tacos, and chimichangas to name a few – who doesn’t love a good chips and queso fix? The majority of food served at Holston’s is made fresh, and some items are original creations of chef Aaron who leads in the food preparations.
If you’re having trouble deciding what to get, here are some of our favorites:
Chicken Quesadilla
This may only be an appetizer, but don’t let this dish fool you; it’s delicious. Stuffed with grilled chicken, tons of melty cheese, pico de gallo that’s made fresh, and a pile of sour cream to dip it in, this quesadilla is perfect as a meal or to share with your friends.
Hawaiian Chicken:
If grilled chicken with a teriyaki glaze served on a bed of rice with a grilled pineapple slice on top sounds like your style, this dish is for you. You’ll feel like you’re getting a taste of tropical islands when you take a bite of this delicious meal.
Fish and Chips
Beer battered and deep fried is the name of the game, and believe us, it’s a good game. You’ll get cod that’s been hand battered and deep fried served with a house-made tarter sauce. Even someone who doesn’t care for fish might just make an exception for this one.
On The River Dreaming
While we’re not usually the “get a sandwich for dinner” kind of diners, this sandwich is incredible enough to fill that slot. If you’re having trouble deciding, this is a great, simple ‘go-to’ plate.
The vibe given off at Holston’s is relaxed. The servers are happy and do their jobs well – during our visit our glasses were never empty long, and the wait staff was very patient with us as we carried on in conversation well after our plates had been emptied. Food runners helped to make the experience even better for us by freeing up the servers to take care of their tables’ immediate needs. All of the servers are presentable and take pride in their appearances.
You’ll feel as if you’re in a high-class eatery while you’re there, but the good news is you aren’t going to pay the price of a high-class eatery. Holston’s prices are very reasonable considering the atmosphere and delicious food you’re eating. The servings are more than enough, and you may end up having leftovers to heat up the next day.
If you’re looking for some great food but want an even more laid back option – the restaurant also features a full bar area where you can watch the game, sip on your favorite draft, and eat from a full menu. If that’s not enough, there’s an entire outdoor area replete with garage door windows and several flat screen televisions where you can soak in the game, some fresh air, and all of the above.
With so many local choices, Holston’s remains a staff favorite time and time again.
Insider Tip:
Holston’s gets pretty busy on the weekends, so we recommend call-ahead seating. Although better than showing up and being at the bottom of the wait list, there is still no guarantee of the how long you’ll have to wait. Wait times can exceed 30 minutes when it’s busy.
