The story of the Smokehouse is an interesting one. The owner, Sam grew up around many great cooks. He learned how to cook the old way, cooking meat over fire. After he spent 30 years in the construction industry, he decided to move on to something he had always enjoyed; cooking. At this restaurant, expect rough cooking. There are no frills, dressing, or garnishes. It’s just delicious, hearty food.
Sam is also the pastor at a small congregation that provides meals for ministry events and disaster relief meals. In 2016, there was a devastating wildfire in Sevier County. During this tragic event, Sam and his sons cooked for first responders and displaced families. He met many great people during this time who encouraged him to open a restaurant, so he did.
They cook with fire in two indirect cookers using only locally sourced hickory and applewood. In addition, they try to use as many local beef and pork products as possible. All recipes are unique to the smokehouse and the sauces are made in-house. You must try them all! At this restaurant, you are invited to slow down and enjoy the good things in life. If you are visiting the area, you are getting the real deal. This isn’t some chain restaurant, it’s simple, hearty Tennessee BBQ. Plus, the prices are affordable.
