We know that many people across the globe are currently quarantined at home due to COVID-19 so we wanted to provide a bit of entertainment during this time. We have rounded up 7 of our favorite “virtual hikes” in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, to get your mind off of all the things in the news and give you a bit of solace in the beauty of nature.
Take a virtual hike at one of these great locations:
1. Clingman’s Dome
This short, fully-paved hike boasts incredible views at the summit of 100 miles on a clear day. Don’t let the distance fool you, with it’s 332 ft. elevation gain, this is a very strenous half mile.
2. Abrams Falls Hiking Trail
The Abrams Falls Trail provides impressive waterfall views, picturesque creek and lush foliage to heighten your outdoor experience.
3. Chimney Tops Trail
This strenuous hike rewards with one of the most gorgeous panoramic views in the Great Smoky Mountains.
4. Laurel Falls Hiking Trail
The Laurel Falls trail is certainly one of the most popular hikes in the park. With stunning views and manageable elevation gain, it’s no surprise this trail is so beloved.
5. Rainbow Falls Trail
Though this trail is a difficult one to hike, it might be one of the most enjoyable. You are sure to be delighted with it’s 80-foot waterfall (the tallest in the park).
6. Cades Cove
A picturesque drive with lush greens, mountain peaks and a large variety of historic buildings. This is one “can’t miss” place while visiting the Great Smoky Mountains!
7. The Sinks
Not only is this a great place to take photos, it’s also a popular spot for swimming and great waterfall views.
When you can’t get out and hike the trails yourself, this is a perfect way to take in the beauty of the mountains from the comfort of home. Check out other Great Smoky Mountain hikes here.
