Family-owned and operated “for better or worse,” the Lost Province Brewing Co. is a destination microbrewery and gastropub that first opened in August 2014 in the historic downtown area of Boone, NC. This brand brews authentic and innovative craft beer that is served alongside wood-fired, savory fare.
This small company is committed to its community, employees, and environment and seeks to offer gracious hospitality to each and every guest. In June 2021, Lost Province Brewing Co. also opened a Hardink Creek brewery and taproom that is located conveniently east of downtown Boone, NC. As the second location, the Hardin Creek brewery does not feature a restaurant but instead focuses solely on beer production.
The idea behind the eventual opening of Lost Province began in the late 80s when Lynne bought Andy his very first brewing kit for his birthday (Lynn and Andy are the Lost Province owners). Home brewing quickly grew to be a favorite hobby of Andy’s and one that he became very passionate about perfecting.
Eventually, this brewing hobby outgrew the family home and even the garage until Andy moved it into a new home with a garage dedicated to its purpose. After retiring from their respective careers and moving to Boone, North Carolina, both Lynne and Andy felt it was time to retire from their existing jobs and open up their own brewpub, and so the idea behind Lost Province was born.
Lynne brought to the company a keen ability to manage and Andy brought along the passion for beer perfected by his extensive knowledge garnered from over 25 years of his brewing venture. It was also aided by his chemistry background from his profession.
The demand for Lost Province beer outgrew the ability to meet the demand in only the downtown location, which was the impetus for opening the second location in Boone. Both locations are designed to be used as community spaces and will ideally be seen as a Boone favorite.
When visiting either of the Lost Province Brewing Co. locations, you can expect to experience some of the best tasting, most expertly crafted beer available in North Carolina. However, when you visit the Downtown Boone Gastropub locale, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy live music (on Friday and Saturday nights) as well as some amazing wood-fired dishes.
The Gastropub is a true farm-to-table establishment as it uses locally sourced or house-made everything. What isn’t available in the local community, Lost Province gets from surrounding counties or within the Southeast region of the United States.
In a time in which most restaurants are using prepared foods or highly processed ingredients, Lost Province aims to offer high-quality food with no shortcuts taken. Therefore, if the item isn’t made in-house, it is likely purchased directly from a local producer or farmer.
