A short drive from Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains, Weaverville is said to be one of the most beautiful places in North Carolina. Experience why visitors choose this quaint town with its exquisite Lake Louise again and again. You’ll find this park offers something for everyone, from young to young at heart, to families and nature enthusiasts. 

The moment you arrive, you’ll fall head over heels in love with the serene natural beauty. The park’s focal point is Lake Louise, a picturesque, small lake that is surrounded by nature’s glory. Get ready to take in the natural beauty because the sights and sounds are stunning. The water is like a mirror that reflects the surrounding landscape, releasing a view like no other. Make sure you take a stroll on the walking path that circles the lake, a perfect “selfie” opportunity and moment to make lasting memories. Be on the lookout for the rustic water wheel that is tucked in at the back of the lake. That’s right! An old-fashioned water wheel where flour was once milled. History, tucked into a mesmerizing destination. Perfect!

If you love to watch wild life in their habitat, Lake Louse will not disappoint. The park is home to a variety of birds, ducks, and turtles, among others. If you are a birdwatcher get ready to enjoy songbirds, waterfowl, and majestic birds of prey. Both educational and entertaining, the wildlife adds a unique and lively element to your visit. If you weren’t a bird watcher before your visit, you’re sure to leave as one. Bring your binoculars for a close-up and personal look into their lives. 

Lake Louise generates hundreds of visitors each year thanks to the beautiful and well-maintained trails. There are paved paths around the lake for walkers, joggers, and those with strollers and wheelchairs. You’ll be impressed with the more rustic trails that lead you through the wooded areas, a more adventurous experience for hikers. Inside these areas, you’ll find benches and picnic tables to rest, enjoy a picnic, or simply relax and take in the amazing scenery.

Whether you visit alone, with a bestie, or bring the whole family, Lake Louise Park has something for everyone. If you are looking to add a workout to your visit, the park features a fitness trail complete with exercise stations. The park also features a modern and safe playground. There is a covered picnic area so parents can watch their children having fun. It was heartwarming to see all the children enjoying their afternoon.  If fishing is your thing, bring along your rod. Lake Louse is a catch-and-release lake, meaning all fish caught must be returned. We weren’t fishing, but the anglers told us the lake was well stocked. 

We appreciate convenience and that’s exactly what you’ll find at Lake Louise Park. At the entrance, there is a sign with all the rules to abide by, so everyone can enjoy this marvelous spot. There is plenty of parking and the park’s layout is easy to find your way around. And with the short distance to Weaverville, after spending time at the lake, you must head over to the downtown and explore the wonderful shops, restaurants, galleries, and charming attractions to take your trip full circle. Our favorite stops were Magnum Pottery, Sugar Magnolia Flower Company, and All Good Coffee. A pick-me-up is always a good idea to take along to the Lake.
