The Sevierville culinary scene offers a surprising range of options, but some visitors complain that seafood is underrepresented. Clearly, these critics haven’t spent much time at PawPaw’s Catfish Kitchen, which serves the region’s best catfish, shrimp, and po’ boys.
Even those who typically don’t enjoy seafood can still find plenty to love about PawPaw’s. The fried catfish is so delicious, avowed seafood haters have been known to compliment it. The restaurant also serves muffulettas and a small selection of po’ boys that do not contain fish. Barbecued pulled pork and brisket are available as sandwiches, plates, or by the pound. The restaurant also serves delicious BBQ ribs as half or full racks.
With a nice selection of meats, picky eaters can get by at PawPaw’s — but definitely not vegetarians. Younger visitors will be pleased by the kids’ menu, which includes burgers, chicken tenders, and, of course, catfish.
Regardless of culinary preferences, it’s impossible to deny the appeal of PawPaw’s unique ambience. What the establishment lacks in seating space, it more than makes up for with its pleasant atmosphere. Servers are notoriously friendly and will do whatever it takes to make guests feel comfortable. Wait times after ordering can exceed 30 minutes, so settle in and enjoy the chill vibe.
A few of our favorite menu items include:
All-You-Can-Eat Catfish
Sometimes, simple (and plentiful) is best. You’ll certainly eat your fill if you order the all-you-can-eat catfish. This dish is exactly what it sounds like…but in addition to delectable catfish, you’ll also receive hushpuppies, fries, and either coleslaw or a side salad. The menu strictly prohibits sharing with the all-you-can-eat order. If you intend to share, order the four-piece fried catfish basket instead.
Family Box
An affordable meal out can be tough to find on vacation, especially if you prefer to avoid large chain restaurants. PawPaw’s offers an excellent solution: a huge family box that allows you and your loved ones to serve yourselves as you see fit. Your order nets you twelve pieces of catfish, six hushpuppies, and a large side of your choosing.
New Orleans Roast Beef Po’ Boy
Not a fan of seafood? No problem. Order this acclaimed po’ boy and you can avoid that dreaded fishy flavor. Served on French bread, the roast beef po’ boy features satisfying homemade gravy, plus lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise (the latter three are included with all PawPaw’s po’ boys).
Crab Cake Orleans
If you adore pasta, you’re in luck. PawPaw’s take on crab cake comes with pasta, which is topped with a unique Creole cream sauce. The meal includes three crab cakes and six grilled shrimp. It’s served with a side salad and bread.
White Chocolate Bread Pudding
Always save room for a sweet treat. The dessert menu at PawPaw’s may be limited, but with dishes this good, there’s no need for variety. The pecan pie is delectable — but for a truly unique dessert experience, order the white chocolate bread pudding.
Whether your idea of the perfect New Orleans meal includes gumbo, muffulettas, or a big pile of catfish, you’ll find plenty to love about the selection at PawPaw’s Catfish Kitchen.
Insider Tip:
Hours vary depending on the season, so check the PawPaw’s website to make sure it’s open when you want to visit. During the winter months, you stand the best chance of scoring dinner at PawPaw’s on a Friday or Saturday evening — but be prepared to wait.
