There’s nothing quite like the experience at English Mountain Trout Farm & Grill. Unlike other eateries where you walk in and order grub, this place requires you to work for your supper, which is where all the fun is at!
Okay, you don’t have to go fishing just to eat at English Mountain Trout Farm & Grill, but why would you want to pass up the opportunity? The “You Hook ‘Em, We Cook ‘Em” option allows you to catch your own fish and have the staff cook them up for you. The Farm provides the fishing poles and bait you need to get going, and pond attendants are standing by to help take your catch off the line. They’ll even help bait your hook. Once you’ve caught your dinner, choose from the lemon peppered, blackened, or fried option depending on your flavor preferences. You can also catch fish to go for just $5.75 per pound, which is practically a steal!
Prefer skipping the hooking and going straight to the cooking? No problem! Order directly from the menu for some of the freshest fish you’ll ever taste in the Smoky Mountains. In addition to fish, English Mountain Trout Farm & Grill serves up burgers, chicken platters and sandwiches, chicken strips, hushpuppies, cheese fries, and mac ‘n cheese, all at affordable prices. The food isn’t the highest quality, but most folks visit this place for the experience, not upscale dining. So, bring the entire family for a fun-filled day exploring the farm and eating your fill of tasty Southern eats.
As if trout fishing and eating wasn’t enough, the Farm also features on-site gem mining. This provides a fun way to pass the time while your fish is being cooked, and unlike other gem mining attractions in the area, the Farm is located right by the creek. Buy a bucket and sift through the dirt for valuable gems. Anything you find is yours to keep!
The Farm is located about 30 minutes from the Parkway in Sevierville, so you’ll need to drive on US-411 North for a bit, as though you’re headed to Forbidden Caverns. In fact, the Farm is less than one mile from Forbidden Caverns, so if you’re making the trip to the Farm, be sure to stop by the underground cave for an unforgettable tour under the Smokies.
Insider Tips:
-Avid fishermen may want to look elsewhere for a nice fishing spot. The Farm’s pond is small and made of concrete, which is ideal for families with small children. While the trout is fresh, it isn’t the best experience for someone who’s accustomed to hooking their catch directly from the creek.
-Bring bug spray. The flies and mosquitos can get particularly bad at this location, and many visitors have reported insect bites. Keep the spray handy and you won’t have to worry about being bitten during dinner.
-If you’re looking to save money, skip the fishing part of the experience and just buy a trout dinner. Fishing for your own trout costs $5 on top of the meal, so the bill can add up quickly.
-Credit cards are not accepted, so remember to bring your own cash, or be prepared to make a withdrawal from the Farm’s recently installed cash machine.
