Sevierville is a gorgeous Tennessee community that lies just northwest of US 441’s entrance into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Now, unfortunately, most of the hikes and trails in that beloved park prohibit dogs — but not every place in Appalachia is so undog-friendly. The trick to traveling with pups is knowing when and where to take them and Tennessee does have such in spades.
The following is a look at some of the best pet-friendly restaurants in Sevierville. Places where you can bring your pooch and enjoy good eats as you breathe in that cool mountain air:
Gatlinburg Brewing Company – Sevierville
Located on the very outskirts of town, Gatlinburg Brewing Company’s Sevierville location is relatively new with an expansive building that includes a roofed outdoor patio that is expressly dog-friendly. In fact, this patio almost seems like an extension of the building itself as it is only open on one side, making it easy to keep warm during the cooler months.
This is foremost a brewery and thus has a long list of delicious drafts made right on the property. You can also opt for a bottled version, or take home a case of your favorites. Gatlinburg Brewing Company also has a delicious craft pizza menu with its own unique concoctions, such as the Betty White that features grilled chicken, broccoli, artichokes, and red onions served with an Alfredo sauce.
Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant
This Southern restaurant has history, proudly holding the title of Sevierville’s oldest restaurant and being part of a local family dynasty that stretches all the way back to 1776. You’ll find this restaurant on Apple Valley Road with a beautiful dog-friendly patio overlooking the West Prong Little Pigeon River.
Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the week. They do, however, have a special Sunday Dinner Menu that really highlights their most popular dishes, like the Applewood Chicken Pot Pie which features a savory mix of tender chunks of chicken, potatoes, peas, carrots, and a creamy gravy within their homemade crust. They also have a special kids’ menu and a dessert menu that should not be missed. The one thing they don’t have is alcohol on their menu, but after your meal, you and your pup can walk next to the Applewood businesses next door for fresh hard ciders and wine.
Graze Burgers
Looking to peruse Sevirville’s city streets? If you’re out with your pooch and looking for a place to sit and relax, check out Graze Burgers on Bruce St. Graze Burgers is a casual American grill-style eatery with a menu full of thick burgers, savory hot dogs, and other delicious finger foods. They also have a full bar with its own cocktail menu and boozy milkshakes.
The pet-friendly part of Graze Burgers is out back, where you’ll find a small patio comprised of wrought iron dining sets. There isn’t much to look at, but the overhead string lighting does give the spot a nice ambiance come dusk.
Buddy’s Bar-B-Q Sevierville
Buddy’s Bar-B-Q is a bit of a chain and this location has that sort of chain restaurant vibe with its oversized brand lettering, cutesy pig logo, and streamlined interior design. Of course, this brand became a chain because it delivers consistently delicious barbecue at a great price (a full pork dinner with two sides for under $10 is hard to beat).
This is a counter-serve restaurant that’s located just next door to the Dick’s Sporting Goods and Hobby Lobby locations on Winifred Dunn Parkway. To take advantage of their dog-friendly patio, you’ll want someone in your party to order outside and bring the food to the small patio in the front.
Elvira’s Cafe
Elvira’s Cafe is located well outside of the bustling city center and on a small hill overlooking a forested area. This Sevierville restaurant is housed within a gorgeous cabin-styled building with a wraparound porch where friendly pups are welcomed to dine with their owners. They are open for breakfast and lunch only Tuesdays through Thursdays, and then breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays.
While they do have a varied list of options, this restaurant does bill itself as a cafe and you’ll find a lot of its best entrees are more Southern-styled breakfast ones. For example, one of their signature dishes is a Cafe Chicken Crepe that features your choice of fried or grilled chicken breast served with feta, ricotta, house-made basil pesto, spinach, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and sliced almonds in a buckwheat crepe and drizzled with sweet-n-spicy sauce.
Coco’s Cantina
Coco’s Cantina is a very small casual eatery that is located within the Legacy Mountain Resort. They offer an interesting mix of foods, making it a good choice for the picky family. For example, their menu has selections for specialty pizzas, sandwiches, tacos, rice bowls, and wraps. Their location has a small window where you’ll order and pick up food (no interior dining area) with a few tables just outside where patrons (including patrons with pups) are happy to dine on their fresh eats.
Don Marco’s Kitchen
This Sevierville restaurant is a good choice when you’re hankering for some delicious Italian food with some American-grill favorites. They are open for lunch and dinner with a sizeable menu of pizza, pasta, steak entrees, and sandwiches. The dog-friendly patio at Don Marco’s Kitchen is among the smallest on our list, but don’t let that stop you if you’re in the mood for Italian-American staples like garlic knots, baked spaghetti, and a massive salad bar to start your meal out right.
