This casual spot brings a whole new twist to the fusion concept, which, if Roll On In is any indication, need not feel highbrow. Creative options like sushi donuts and sushi burritos allow you to experiment with different presentations but still retain everything you love about the sushi experience.
Roll On In’s build-your-own approach is also highly appreciated; you’ll get the chance to choose a base and a protein. The latter can be sushi-grade tuna or salmon — and it’s available spicy, fresh, or grilled. A variety of fillers are also offered, including both conventional and decidedly unique options. The sauce tends to be heavy-handed, but for some visitors, that’s a definite plus. Don’t be surprised if, after you depart Sevierville, you’re tempted to check out Roll On In’s other locations.

As another casual space worth checking out when you need a fast and flavorful meal, Nagano Japanese Grill aims to please you with its delectable hibachi. Sushi is not exactly the focus here, but it is certainly available. While this doesn’t necessarily qualify as high-end sushi, it’s definitely fresh and, as such, it represents a major step up from what you’ll find at the grocery store.
Nagano’s sushi menu is extensive and, despite the fast-casual digs, you will want some time to glance at the options. A classic California roll is always a safe bet — but if you’re feeling adventurous, take a look at the specialty sushi selection. There, you’ll find regional rolls named after all the area’s top towns: Gatlinburg, Sevierville, and Pigeon Forge. These are typically drizzled with the flavorful Nagano sauce and may incorporate shrimp tempura, crab salad, or scallions.

Pinchy’s Lobster and Beer Company might not seem like your go-to for sushi, but it’s certainly a solid option when you are the only person in your group craving a sushi roll instead of a lobster roll. The sushi menu is actually quite extensive, especially considering that sushi is clearly not the main focus at this location. There are lots of sushi options with spicy crab meat and tempura shrimp, plus an unforgettable roll that incorporates hot Cheetos crumbles to great effect.

If you like the idea of eating your fill of sushi but also want to try other specialties, Sakura Japanese Buffet may be your best bet. Make sure you have a big appetite when you visit because you will find it difficult to slow down when you discover the sheer range of tasty treats. You name it and you’ll find it at this extensive buffet: sushi, of course, but also gyoza, coconut shrimp, and so much more.
Picky kids should also be satisfied, as there are several classics such as chicken nuggets. The desserts are exquisite and regular visitors have been known to rave about the chocolate fountain. No matter what you eat (or how much), you will be pleased to discover that the service is attentive and that the items in the buffet are regularly replenished. This restaurant definitely gets busy, but that shouldn’t stop you from eating your fill.
There is plenty to love about Sevierville’s sushi scene and, while this veers casual, that’s not a bad thing. Take a break from your typical sushi destinations and stop by a fast-casual location or even a buffet. You will thank yourself for trying something different — and you just might discover that your sushi experience rates highest among your Sevierville culinary adventures.
