Five Guys Burgers and Fries, located in Gatlinburg, is an upscale burger joint with a unique system of service. The prices are high considering what you’re getting, but the food is completely satisfying. You won’t leave hungry after stuffing your face with huge, greasy burgers and hand-cut fries.
Five Guys Gatlinburg has a red and white color theme, and it’s visible all throughout the restaurant, menu, and even the workers’ uniforms. The counters are white and red tiles, and the walls are also tiled in white and red halfway up.
When you walk in, you’ll get in line to order your food. There is a menu above the cash register as well as one on the wall to the right of the register, so you can be thinking about what you want while you’re in line. You order your food, get your cup, and go to the soda fountain to fill it up. After that, you take your seat and wait for your number to be called. When your number is called, you will go up to the kitchen area where someone will hand you a brown paper bag that will probably have a greasy bottom, which is one of their trademarks.
After you order your food, you go to find a table to sit at while you wait. There are short tables as well as tall tables with barstools. You can sit anywhere you please as long as someone else isn’t already occupying the table you want.
The middle of the restaurant is the kitchen. You can see everything going on with your food if you choose to stand up and watch. There are huge grills and a prep station where all of your condiments and toppings are put on. No need to worry about the sanitation of your food with a view like that.
In case you’re super hungry and just cannot wait for your food, there is a box of shelled peanuts with little holders to put them in. Fill a container with nuts and head back to your seat to wait on your food. We love the peanuts. It’s like a free appetizer that’ll keep you entertained. Who doesn’t like to crack open a peanut every now and then?
The menu isn’t incredibly diverse. As the name suggests, there are burgers, and that’s about it. There are a few hotdogs and sandwiches, but the menu is mostly burgers. At Five Guys, you pick the size of burger you want, and then all the toppings. There are four different burgers that you can get in a regular or little size with the only differences being the presence of cheese and bacon. You’ll get your burger wrapped in aluminum foil. The fries, come in 3 different sizes, and you can get Five Guys Style or Cajun Style. Five Guys is famous for their fries, which are hand-cut. They are delicious, and you have to try them when you go. When you look in your brown bag that your food comes in, you’ll probably see the majority of your fries laying out in the bag; that’s just part of the experience of Five Guys.
Although the menu isn’t overwhelming by any means, here are a couple items we can definitely recommend:
Bacon Cheeseburger: If you’re going to get a big, juicy burger, do it the right way and slap some bacon on it. You’ll get a huge burger covered in cheese and bacon. We like to get lettuce, tomato, ketchup, onions, and pickles on ours, but get any toppings you want on that bad boy. Forget counting calories today, and go for the juicy gold.
Fries: Fries are a must when you’re at Five Guys. You can’t pass up these hand-cut to perfection beauties. You’ll never want fast food fries again after taking a bite of these home-made potatoes. Just go ahead and order a large fry to go with your bacon cheeseburger. It’s totally worth it.
