Dollywood’s Hickory House BBQ has been recognized by Amusement Business for having the best barbecue of any amusement park eatery in the country. No matter what style of barbecue you prefer, this joint’s expertly prepared meats will have your mouth watering for more.
The meat offerings here are somewhat limited when compared to other barbecue joints, but what Hickory House BBQ offers it does to perfection. The pulled pork sandwiches are piled high and taste best smothered with sauce, and the smoked turkey legs leave your tastebuds wanting more even when your stomach has no more room.
Complementing the meats is a slew of sides like any good barbecue joint would have. There’s baked beans, fries and white bread for soaking up excess sauce. Chicken tenders are also available for little ones who aren’t quite used to true barbecue meat and anyone else who’d prefer an alternative.
While ensuring everything is scrumptious, the staff here also manages to make sure customers are served quickly. Diners don’t need to spend much time in line or waiting for their food, so they can get back to the rides and attractions as soon as possible. Service is even fast enough for one or two people in a party to get a sandwich while other group members wait.
Barbecue isn’t necessarily a standard amusement park food, but it’s a must-try at Dollywood. When the meat is this good, no opportunity to try it should be passed up.
A few of our menu favorites at Hickory House BBQ include:
BBQ Pork Sandwich
This is the sandwich that captured Amusement Business’ attention. The BBQ Pork Sandwich is cooked slowly, shredded fully and slathered with sauce.
Smoked Turkey Leg
For something that’s a little easier to carry while walking around, go with the Smoked Turkey Leg. Large enough to fill a full-grown adult or a couple of children, the meat is fall-off-the-bone good.
BBQ Pork Fries
Another way to enjoy the award-winning pulled pork and barbecue sauce, the BBQ Pork Fries take the classic French fry and only make it better.
White Bread
Yes, the White Bread deserves to be mentioned. The bread itself isn’t super special, but it serves as an excellent sponge for excess barbecue sauce. Get your meat extra saucy, and ask for another slice of bread on the side.
Chicken Tenders
For picky eaters who don’t want barbecue sauce, the Chicken Tenders are a solid option. They’re simple but pleasing.
Insider Tip:
– Although there aren’t many vegetarian options at this barbecue joint, that doesn’t necessarily have to prevent you from stopping for a sandwich if you have a non-meat-eater in your group. Service is fast enough that it doesn’t take long to get a sandwich or turkey leg here, and have your vegetarian friend get something at one of Dollywood’s more vegetarian-friendly eateries.
