No season is quite like the fall; with the swift breeze of cool air and pumpkin scented candles. Everyone, including Dollywood, is getting ready for the season in any way they can. The annual Harvest Festival is getting ready for your attendance from September 24 – October 30th. Enjoy your evening with the Great Pumpkin Luminights, or check out demonstrations from talented blacksmiths and artisans. With all there is to do, you won’t be bored at this festival of autumn wonder.
When it comes to food, what does this festival have to offer?
Country Cookers Kettle Korn
Daily made fresh kettle korn to your liking. Watch the Country Cookers prepare this beauty from scratch and take in the delicious candy corn sweet treats that are also placed inside! Perfect for a light afternoon snack in between rides or if you simply want a little taste of Halloween candy.
Fried Green Tomato BLT in Market Square
A fried green tomato complemented with bacon and lettuce inside of a tasty hamburger bun. Don’t miss out on the fire-roasted Corn Salad! If you’re really hungry, check out the booth nearby for some Smoked Brisket as well as three bean baked beans and spicy cabbage.
Sweet Shoppe Caramel Apples
If your nose finds its way to the Sweet Shoppe, follow it inside. Caramel apples are hand-dipped daily as well a decorated by candy artists. If you are in the mood, stop by earlier to see the work being done by these passionate workers. Either way, get your sugar-filled pick-me-up and soak in the aroma of this spot as you ride on all of the rollercoasters and browse the fall-inspired art.
Spotlight Bakery Pie & Rice Krispie
If you’re wanting anything sweet, Spotlight Bakery is the way to go. Their apple pie uses 25 pounds of apples in JUST the filling and one slice is roughly 4 pounds. Among their apple pie, they also have sugar cookies, pumpkin bread, apple cider cupcakes, pecan pie bars, rice krispie treats, and so much more! Our head is spinning from the sweetness overload.
Their number one seller, however, is their cinnamon rolls (which if you know about Dollywood’s famous cinnamon bread, you can imagine how yummy these cinna-treats are.)
Splinter’s Pumpkin Spice Funnel Cake
Splinter’s Funnel Cakes has the ultimate fall treat all of us pumpkin spice lovers could want. Add vanilla or soft-serve ice cream to your funnel cake to top it off and don’t forget about the powdered sugar, vanilla glaze, and Reese’s Peanut Butter. (Currently, Splinter’s is closed due to lack of staffing – check SkyView Snacks or Till & Harvest for additional options.)
Is it time to visit the Harvest Festival?
