Dobra Tea is a traditional tea house that offers a wide array of high-end teas. These are served alongside elegant treats in a refined and relaxing atmosphere.
Each year, the owners of Dobra tea travel the world in search of exemplary teas to bring back to Asheville, North Carolina. The available selections include black, green, oolong, white, yellow, pu-erh and herbal teas, and some are extremely rare. Most of the teas are exclusively brewed hot, but there are over a dozen iced tea options — including Bubble Tea and Chai.
Each one is individually prepared to perfection by the owners or staff, and sometimes by a visiting overseas supplier themselves. The end result of the travel efforts and painstaking attention to detail is tea that not only is the best in Asheville but stands out when compared with other selections throughout the world.
There’s a decent selection of savory and sweet snacks to complement the tea selection. These won’t fill a grown man’s stomach, but the items are expertly made and delicious. Everything is gluten-free and vegetarian, and there are a number of vegan items. Whenever possible, the tea house uses organic and locally sourced ingredients in these food items.
All of the teas and foods are perfectly complemented by an atmosphere that’s sophisticated yet relaxing. Although the decor may look like the fancy room your grandmother never let you play in, the staff will immediately put you at ease and make you feel welcome in the refined surroundings.

Staff-Recommended Tea
With so many teas to choose from, even an experienced tea drinker will need some guidance from the staff. Explain what kinds of teas you prefer, and ask them for a recommendation. They’ll know just what to brew.
Pu-Erh Tea $7.25
Pu-erh is aged tea that has a rich, smooth flavor. It’s not as widely known as other teas in the United States because importing it was illegal for some time. Now, however, the tea is perfectly legal to import and drink — and well worth giving a try. It’s an especially good choice for coffee drinkers who are beginning to explore the world of tea.
Matcha on the Rocks $3.75
A classic Japanese green tea powder that is made through cold infusion and served on ice. The is pure form and unadulterated with sugar. It’s cold, it’s refreshing, and it’ll keep you going.
Raspberry Brown-Butter Teacake $3.75
Raspberries and brown butter in a little tart-like form. The perfect sweet complement to several different teas.
Oatmeal Cream Pie
A childhood favorite, but gluten-free and fresh out of the kitchen. What more could we ask for?

– Tea classes are offered approximately every four weeks. If you’re in the area when a class is scheduled, come and learn about the beverage that so many people around the world consume on a daily basis.
– If you find a tea that you really like, purchase some to bring home. Most of the teas are available loose leaf by the ounce for brewing elsewhere.
