The great thing about Blue Mountain Pizza and Brew Pub is that it’s not trying to be something it isn’t. It knows its place in the local neighborhood culture, and it embraces it with a casual atmosphere and down-to-earth menu.
You’ll realize that as soon as you walk into the kitschy space. The small dining area flows around the central bar, which is lined with the restaurant’s brew taps and liquor shelf. The wooden tables provide comfortable, laid-back seating, making it a great place to come with family or friends for a tasty meal.
Don’t forget about the outdoor seating as well. The small patio is dog-friendly, meaning you can bring along Fido. There are even numerous water bowls available so your pup doesn’t get too thirsty while drooling over your pizza.
While the space is small, that doesn’t stop Blue Mountain from offering live music every night of the week. It books a number of local mountain music acts and also hosts open-mic nights, giving amateurs the chance to take the stage. Let the rocking tunes entertain you while you wait for your pizza to arrive.
Everything on the menu, whether it’s the homemade pizza, beer, or ice cream, is crafted using fresh ingredients. In particular, the beer options are all small-batch to ensure quality. The restaurant utilizes a two-barrel system that lets it experiment with new brews on a regular basis. Instead of pigeonholing the brews into one or two styles, Blue Mountain tries out various flavors, from Belgian IPAs to pale ales.
Their homemade ice cream also rotates frequently, with tasty favorites like butter pecan, key lime, and blackberry ginger stealing the show. You can order just a scoop, create your own brownie sundae, or grab a pint to take home.
The real star of the show here is the pizza, which is all hand-tossed to order.
Some of our favorite pizza options here include:
Cow Tipper
We won’t lie — the name is what first drew us to this flavorful pizza. However, after the first bite, we realized the name wasn’t even close to the best thing about it. Fresh mushrooms, roasted garlic, caramelized onions, red peppers, and steak tips all sit upon a parmesan crust with an olive oil sauce and balsamic glaze.
Mountain Extravaganza
Whether you’re spent the day climbing this restaurant’s namesake or just really have a hankering for pizza, this monstrous pie will satisfy your hunger. It comes loaded with nearly every topping you can imagine, including green and black olives, banana peppers, yellow onion, green peppers, mushrooms, beef, ham, sausage, and pepperoni.
Pesto Perfection
Perhaps you’re craving something a little out of the ordinary? If so, Pesto Perfection will give you the tastes you crave. In place of traditional red sauce is a green pesto, paired with artichoke hearts, feta, and grilled chicken all on top of a parmesan crust.
Carnivore
Like the name suggests, this pizza is all about the meats. Loaded with bacon, ham, pepperoni, beef, and sausage, the Carnivore is sure to appease those who run in fear of a vegetable.
Henry Penny
Barbecue is a North Carolina staple, and Blue Mountain capitalizes on that with its take on a barbecue chicken pizza. Special BBQ sauce is paired with grilled chicken, bacon, and red onions for a mouth-watering treat that will have you coming back for more.
Blue Mountain offers more than just beer, ice cream, and pizza, obviously. Its other dishes are also to-die for, including the large selection of pastas and salads. Don’t be afraid to experiment during your night out.
Insider Tip:
On certain Mondays throughout the year, Blue Mountain goes beyond ordinary pizza and serves up more elevated cuisine. They transform the normal environment into a fine-dining atmosphere, including white table linens. This one-price, several-course meal often sells out, so keep an eye open for the next dinner event.
