In 2008, Thirsty Monk chose Asheville, NC as the site of a craft brewery dedicated to the production of Belgian-rooted modern ales. The downtown location was a hit, and Thirsty Monk South at Biltmore Park was opened in 2013 to serve Asheville’s growing number of brew-loving locals. Today, Brother Joe’s Coffee Pub and the upscale Top of the Monk, serving classic cocktails are also members of the family.
Frequent special events are on the Thirsty Monk South calendar, so there’s good reason to stop in often to quench your thirst and tickle your taste buds.
Come with old friends or meet new ones on every visit. It’s the kind of place where you’ll never feel alone, and getting bored is almost impossible! Even though you may gravitate toward a favorite brew among the unique lineup of core beers, it’s a sure bet you’ll also want to try out new small batch specialties! When you find a great one, take home a 750ml growler bottle, available to go! You can’t beat that.

Biltmore Park is a master-planned multi-use community of hotels and condos, restaurants and shops, theaters and other entertainment, located only about 15 minutes from downtown Asheville. There is always something happening, and Thirsty Monk is the perfect place to meet friends or people watch. The best news is that the kitchen is open late, so stopping in after the movie or free concert in the park is entirely do-able!

Beer
Think of all the things you love about beer — the flavor of hops, the citrus odor or the sweet aroma of fruit, a hint of baking bread, or the background taste of rye and malt, even a slight bitterness on the tongue. Your friendly barkeep will have some great ideas for your tasting pleasure.
Cider
If you’re not really a beer aficionado, Thirsty Monk at Biltmore Park also has an excellent rotation of ciders. The Cider is spiced with chai and some people say it’s like drinking apple pie!
Food
The Salmon Burger is a good choice for anyone who wants a healthy burger experience! But we couldn’t resist the house-made frites served with “screaming onion aioli.”
Snacks
Beer and soft pretzels just seem to go together, don’t they? You can get them both at Thirsty Monk. But if you think, as we do, that everything’s better with bacon, order a Pint of Bacon with your beer! There’s no doubt about how good that combination is!

Try one or more of the “Food Flights,” expertly crafted munchies paired with unique craft beers — we couldn’t decide on just one favorite! But we love both the Sour/Fruit and Dark options with their paired beers!
Insider Tips:
-There’s not table service at Thirsty Monk in Biltmore Village. Instead, you place your order at the counter, but that’s actually part of the fun! And if adventurous eating isn’t your ticket to happiness, go with one of the delicious burgers; in addition to beef, you can get chicken, salmon or veggie burgers. You’ll also find old favorites like fish and chips (but made with trout instead of cod!), pizza and wings.
-If you love tacos, they are worthy of an order, but be aware that they get mixed reviews.
-Monday through Thursday specials are great! From $1 off offers to the chance to take home a free souvenir glass on Wednesday Night Pint Night, a night out in Asheville doesn’t get much better than at Thirsty Monk South at Biltmore Park.
